Light Emitting Diode (LED)

Today, most people associate LED TV with TVs that are thin and light. However, the term “LED TV” is often misunderstood. Actually LED TV is a TV that uses a three-color or four-color LED to produce the image.

This kind of TV is very large and heavy. But the term “LED TV” is used to refer to an LCD TV that uses an LED as its light source instead using the fluorescent lamp that is used in the LCD TV. This approach makes it possible for LCD TV with LED backlighting to be brighter, smaller, and slimmer than those with fluorescent lamp backlighting. So LED TV and LCD TV differ only in their source of backlighting. Both of them still use LCD technology to produce the image.
